Shopping While Hijabi

Retail therapy... it's a thing. A thing I like to do a LOT! However, as much fun as it is to shop around and buy something new, it's a very rare occurrence for me to actually reach the register - well, with an item of clothing that is.
I've been a hijabi for about 12 years now, and although I've noticed recent changes in the trends of today's clothing lines in the Western world, I wasn't so encouraged when I was younger. Shopping was a nightmare for me. Nothing was long enough, wide enough, solid enough. Everything was either too short, too tight, too see-through, or had random slits and holes in it. If I wanted something modest, I had to go to Muslim stores (which are not cheap), shop overseas, or really really spend time finding something do-able.
A lot of my friends resorted to online shopping from Turkish or Amish websites (wait.. what?), but for me- shopping online seemed more of a hassle, especially since I have no idea what my size is half the time. I need to try on the clothes before I am sold on them, and the online shopping experience does not provide that. Not to mention that those websites are often not very cheap as well... so not really a fan.
Recently, stores have been providing more "hijabi-friendly" options... but not on purpose. Somehow, longer, flowy-er lose clothing has been trending in the fashion industry, making it a gold mine for Muslimah's in the western society! Hooray! We've always been the trend setters *flips hijab over shoulder*.
Check out some of the items I found at a sale recently!
I'm not going to lie, I'm a bargain hunter. I don't like spending money, and I DEFINITELY don't have a care for brand name items. That's why I am so excited that modest fashion has been trending recently because that means that most stores will hold such items! I don't have to go to the bougiest stores to find what I'm looking for.
I'm not saying that the clothes are perfect, they still need some work... like "why does this maxi dress have a huge slit on the side?" Or "why is this jumpsuit super tight?" but we are slowly but surely getting there. One stitch at a time...
For now, I'll continue pretty satisfied with my options during my next session of retail therapy...
